World Bank to provide $70m of additional financing for Karnataka health project |
India signed an agreement with the World Bank here yesterday for $ 70 million of additional financing for the Karnataka Health Systems Development and Reform Project. The agreement was signed by Mr Prabodh Saxena, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Government of India and Mr. Michael Haney, Operations Adviser, World Bank (India) on behalf of the World Bank and Dr. Vishal R., Project Administrator on behalf of the Government of Karnataka. An official press release said the main objective of the project is to improve the health services delivery, public-private collaboration and financing particularly for the benefit of underserved and vulnerable groups in Karnataka. The project components include strengthening of existing Government health programmes, innovations in service delivery and health financing and project management, monitoring and evaluation. The additional financing of the project will be implemented till March 31, 2016, the release added.
