Wisconsin merchandise exports rose 8 percent in the first six months of this year, compared to the same period of 2011, outpacing the 7 percent national average for total merchandise export growth.
New export data from the International Trade Administration showed year-over-year export value in Wisconsin through June grew from $10.8 billion to $11.7 billion.
By country, Wisconsin sales increased by 49 percent to Australia, 48 percent to India, 24 percent to Japan, 18 percent to Hong Kong and 12 percent to Belgium, which all helped produce the state's overall 8 percent increase.
Key merchandise export categories included manufactured machinery, computer and electronic products, transportation equipment, food products and chemicals, the ITA said.
