The Spices Board of India said that India's total spices exports in October of the current fiscal 2009-10 was up by 27% in volume and 9% in value terms thanks to surge in exports of small cardamom, chilli, ginger and turmeric. Spices export from India rose to Rs 505.74 crore last month, while in volume terms.
Spices export during October stood at 41,585 tonnes, compared with 32,650 tonnes a year ago, Spices Board said in a statement.
According to official data, small cardamom exports amounted to 200 tonnes in October 2009 from 50 tonnes in the same period a year earlier, while chilli exports rose 70% to 18,500 tonnes.
