Service Tax On Air Tickets From July 1 |

(RTTNews) - Domestic and international air fares will be increased by Rs.100 and Rs.500 respectively from July 1, say reports. This is a sequel to the Indian Government's notification levying service tax on air travel.
The government proposed in the 2010-11 budget a 10 per cent service tax on air travel to garner, respectively, Rs.600 crore and Rs.1,000 crore annually to the exchequer.
Tuesday's notification said for domestic travel, ten per cent of the gross value of the ticket or Rs.100 per journey, whichever was less, would be levied on tickets for either business or economy class.
