Rupee trading higher at 53.62 on mild capital inflows |
Mumbai, Nov 2:
The rupee today opened flat against the dollar against Thursday’s close of 53.70 on a firm euro and mild capital flows.
The Indian currency strengthened to 53.60 as euro edged up against the American currency. However, uncertainty on Greece and Spain capped the gains as dollar strengthened against other currencies.
However, sustained dollar sales by exporters and banks along with positive domestic and Asian equity markets boosted the rupee sentiment.
At 9.52 am, the rupee was trading higher at 53.62 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market.
The overnight call money rates opened slightly higher at 8.05 per cent from its previous close of 8 per cent. The call rates touched 7.95 per cent levels in the early trade. Currently, the rates were trading at 8.10 per cent.
The 10-year benchmark 8.15 per cent government security, which matures in 2022, was trading lower at Rs 99.70 from the previous close of Rs 99.76, while the yield remained almost unchanged at 8.19 per cent.
