Rupee down 6 paise against dollar in early trade |
MUMBAI: Snapping a six-day gaining streak, the rupee declined 6 paise to 45.64 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Thursday on increased dollar demand.
Forex dealers said that besides dollar demand from importers, weak opening on the domestic bourses put pressure on the Indian rupee.
However, a weak dollar against other currencies, capped the domestic currency's losses, they said.
The rupee had gained 9 paise to close at a fresh four-month high of 45.58/59 against the US dollar in the previous session.
