NEW DELHi: A head of the
Budget to be presented July 10, PM Narendra Modi may reconstitute the Planning Commission with a new deputy chairman. The commission, which is headed by PM himself, has been without a deputy chairman after the resignation of Montek Singh Ahluwalia following the change of government last month.
There are indications that the commission is expected to continue playing its conventional role as an interface between the finance ministry and other Central ministries for working out development expenditure. An official said the commission is actively involved in preparation of the Budget and will soon have a new team. The officials of the commission discussed the plan expenditure plan for central ministries.
