Pharmexcil to host iPHEX 2013 in Mumbai to woo international buyers |
The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has launched a major strategic initiative to woo international buyers to India and is planning to invite 400 overseas buyers and regulators to visit India for sourcing various pharmaceutical products and services at forthcoming iPHEX 2013 exhibition scheduled to be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai from April 24 to 26, 2013.
As part of this initiative, Pharmexcil organised a seminar on 'Building Relationship in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Sector' in Delhi recently in which several ambassadors, diplomats, government officials and doyens of pharma industry were present.
“India is the global pharmacy for generic medicines as more than 90 per cent of WHO pre-qualified API (ARVs, anti-tubercular & anti-malarials) are sourced from India and we are making concerted efforts to promote India’s status as the manufacturing hub of the world,” said Dr P V Appaji, director general, Pharmexcil in his speech in the seminar.
In his keynote address, additional secretary in the union commerce ministry said the ministry of commerce has launched a series of initiatives to promote Brand India Pharma and iPHEX 2013 shall offer a perfect opportunity for international buyers to come to India and evaluate how well structured and regulated the Indian pharma industry is.
“India is emerging a preferred suppliers for generic drugs and we have given a major thrust to consolidate India’s market leadership in generic exports by launching iPHEX 2013,” Kher said.
Committee chief of iPHEX and Pharmexcil's CoA member Bhavin Mehta said that India is key supplier of DTP/BCG and measles vaccines as required by WHO and we endeavour to showcase India's complete pharma value chain during iPHEX 2013. “India is a world leader in vaccines and produces 60 per cent of total global health vaccines,” Mehta said.
In his welcome address, Pharmexcil vice chairman Ashutosh Gupta said, “We are extremely proud to launch iPHEX 2013 -an India centric pharma show for the world.”
“iPHEX 2013 will give a major boost to pharma exports by the SME sector and we are receiving a very enthusiastic response from the Industry which is looking forward to this mega initiative by Pharmexcil,” said Nipun Jain, SME panel chief, Pharmexcil.
