Ahmedabad: Cotton exporters might soon be able to register export contracts online to obtain the mandatory authorisation certificate from the office of the Textile Commissioner in Mumbai.
“Online registration of cotton exports is likely to become a reality soon, thereby reducing hassles in obtaining mandatory export contract certificates from the Mumbai Textile Commissioner’s office,” said an official in the Textile Commissioner’s office in Mumbai.
He said the software for offering online registration of cotton export contracts under the export registration and authorisation scheme is ready and the facility could be launched within a week or two.
After launch, exporters would be able to file their applications online. “We will be sending them a physical copy of the certificate for Customs clearance,” he added.
At present, exporters normally send applications through post to the Mumbai Textile Commissioner’s office to obtain shipment certifications and can export their consignment only after getting the certificates.
