Oilmeals exports down 9% during April-May 2010 |
Export of oilmeals during May 2010 declined 3% to 173,604 tonnes from 178,350 tonnes, according to data compiled by Solvent Extractors’ Association of India.
Due to lower crushing and disparity in last few months, the overall export of oilmeals for April-May 2010 is reported at 377,950 tonnes compared to 416,935 tonnes i.e. down by 9%, the association said.
During the oil year, starting from November 2009 to March 2010, export of oilmeals declined continuously due to steady decrease in production of meat and partly due to reduction demand for compound feeds and crisis in the livestock industry, which has contributed to lower consumption of soya meal and other oilmeals, reflecting in lower export from India.
However, the association said, the export has revived to some extent in the last two months due to revival of economy and demand coming from South East Asian countries.
