Need for export awareness in region: Minister |
IMPHAL, Aug 6: A one-day export awareness programme on Scope and Opportunities from North Eastern States of India was held today at the Hotel Classic in Imphal under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India in association with the department of Commerce and Industries, government of Manipur, office of the zonal joint director general of foreign trade, Kolkata, export credit guarantee corporation and Exim Bank of India.
The awareness programme was graced by minister for Commerce and Industry, government of Manipur, Y Erabot Singh, O Nabakishore Singh, principal secretary Commerce and Industry, government of Manipur as the chief guest and president respectively. Kiran Puri, director Commerce and Industry, government of India, GP Upadhyaya, IAS secretary general, FIEO and Sanjeev Nandwani, Joint DGFT were also present as the guests of honor at the function.
Minister Y Erabot while speaking at the function stated that lack of export knowledge among the people of the state has resulted in little export business flourishing in the region even though the region is quite suitable for setting up export business.
However, he also added that such kind of awareness programmes would help educate the people about export-import business in the NE region.
