The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) imports from the European Union (excluding France) and Indonesia. This duty would be effective for a period of five years, unless revoked earlier.
The country’s anti-dumping directorate had in the last week of March this year recommended continued imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on caustic soda imports from the European Union (excluding France) and Indonesia.
The Designated Authority had also concluded that there was no dumping of caustic soda in the case of imports from Chinese Taipei.
Caustic Soda, an inorganic odourless chemcial, finds application in the manufacture of pulp and paper, newsprint, viscose yearn, staple fibre, aluminium, textiles, toilet and laundry soaps, detergent, dyestuffs, drugs and pharmaceuticals and petroleum refining.
In the case of imports from the EU (exclusidng France) and Indonesia, the Finance Ministry has now levied an anti-dumping duty that would be the difference between the reference price of $ 415.46 a dry tonne and the landed value of imported goods.
