New Delhi, Sep 29 The government today enhanced the quota for marble import by 25 per cent in the wake of a pick-up in real estate and construction activities.
The decision to enhance the marble import quota for 2009-10 has been notified by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
Import of dolomite and limestone of more than one cubic feet is restricted.
With signs of revival in the economy, the real estate and construction industries have gathered pace in the last few months.
The confidence of the industry is evident from the fact that at least three major realty firms, including Emaar MGF and Sahara have sought regulator SEBI approval for collectively raising over Rs 11,000 crore from the primary market.
