Indian, Thai private sectors urged to boost trade |
The Deputy Commerce Minister of Thailand, Mr Alongkorn Ponlaboot, said on Wednesday that Indian and Thai private sectors need to actively promote two-way trade in goods and services.
Speaking at a business meet organised by FICCI, Mr Ponlaboot said that the two-way trade between the two countries should be promoted by forging new forms of cooperation in sectors such as IT, entertainment, fashion design and gems and jewellery.
Free trade pacts
The Thai Minister expressed the hope that once all the Free Trade Agreements, in which Thailand and India are parties to, become full-fledged, the economic relations between the two countries would further flourish and advance.
He said, Thailand was an important market for Indian exports in many sectors, including fishery products, diamonds, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel. “Thailand is also an important supplier of a range of products to India including a number of electronic parts and components, automotive products, and plastics, that are the key inputs to exports of India's manufacturing sector,” said Mr Ponlaboot.
