BL reported that Indian Railways has again revised for freight purpose the classification of iron ore for exports.
The classification has been brought down from 200X to 180, the same for domestic movement.
The downward revision of the classification is expected to bring down rail freight for iron ore exports by an estimated INR 200 to INR 250 a tonne.
The report added that exporters are still not happy because of the continuation of the surcharges. They want reduction of the classification to 160 and the surcharges removed.
