Indian cement makers sought a ban on the commodity's import from Pakistan because goods entering India aren't properly checked, the Financial Express reported, citing senior executives of two cement companies.
Scrutiny isn't thorough enough on the border with Pakistan, making it easy for terrorists to smuggle explosives into India, the newspaper reported, citing H. M. Bangur, chairman of Shree Cements Ltd.
In view of the security considerations, the government should review trade with Pakistan, said Vinod Juneja, managing director of Binani Cements Ltd., the newspaper reported.
India blamed ``elements'' from Pakistan for last week's Mumbai terror attacks.
