New Delhi, July 15 (PTI) Leading textile bodies from India and Taiwan today agreed to cooperate in the field of technology and promotion of the industry.
Apex body of India's garment exporters Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and the organisation of textiles producers and machinery manufacturers Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) signed an agreement in this regard.
"We will not be selling garments but rather would be selling techniques, know-how, machinery and equipment (to India)," Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Center here, Wenchyi Ong said.
The two organisations would work together in identifying investors for setting up man-made and special fabric manufacturing units and facilitating Taiwans textile industry for setting up joint ventures in India for eco-friendly and specialty apparel.
The industry would have to produce cotton blended and man-made fabric garments to expand India's exports market, AEPC said adding the agreement with the TTF would help the country's outward shipments.
