MUMBAI, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Indian state-run trading company MMTC Ltd (MMTC.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) is seeking 15,000 tonnes of white sugar from licenced mills for exports, the company said on its website on Monday.
The deadline for submiting bids is Thursday, it added.
India is the world's second-largest sugar producer and has been exporting sizable volumes in the last few years.
In the sugar year that ended in September 2008, it produced about 26.3 million tonnes of sugar, higher than domestic demand of about 21.5 million tonnes.
