NEW DELHI, March 16 (Reuters) - India's vegetable oil imports in February rose 48 percent from a year earlier to 762,544 tonnes, a leading trade body said on Monday.
Imports in the oil year from November were at 2.95 million tonnes, up 68 percent from 1.76 million tonnes in the previous year, data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) showed.
India, the world's biggest vegetable oil buyer after China, imports almost half of its annual domestic consumption of around 11 million tonnes. The country buys palm oil from Malaysia and Indonesia and soyoil from Brazil and Argentina.
