India's exports soar 36.2 percent in April for the sixth month of growth |
India's exports grew by a robust 36.2 percent in April to US$16.9 billion, the sixth consecutive month of growth, official data showed Tuesday. In April 2009, exports had shrunk by nearly 30 percent to US$12.4 billion due to the global economic downturn. The country's imports for the month grew by 43.3 percent to US$27.3 billion against US$19 billion in the same period a year ago, the Commerce Ministry said. The trade deficit rose to 10.4 billion dollars compared to US$6.6 billion last year, the statement said.
