India’s cut and polished diamond exports in October 2009 increased by around 17 percent valuing at US $1496 million, when compared with US $1278 million worth of cut and polished diamonds exported in the same month last year.
Exports of coloured gemstones from India in the said month rose by 31 percent to US $24 million, while in the same month last year it was US $18 million. Export of gold jewellery dipped by around 42 percent to US $513 million in October 2009, while in October 2008, the country exported US $891 million worth of gold jewellery.
As per reports, the country’s total exports in October, 2009 amounted to US $2114.45 million, which indicates an 8 percent drop over US $2296 million worth of total exports achieved in October 2008.
