Bangladeshi media reported that exporters of the Indian state of Meghalay have agreed to reduce the coal price by USD 5 per tonne to USD 48 per tonne.
Mr Hajee Delwar Hossain leader of Sylhet coal importers group told UNB that he received the proposal for reducing the price from Mr Doli Kongla president of Meghalay Chamber of Commerce. He said that the offer was made in the wake of sharp decline of coal import and fall in oil price in the international market.
As per report, coal exporters had unilaterally increased the price to USD 52 per tonne in November. Initially they wanted to raise the price to USD 55 from USD 48. Now the import declined sharply Doli Kongla has proposed to reduce back the price to USD 48 per tonne.
