India Imposes Anti-Dumping Tariffs Ranging From 7.46% To 40.91% On Chinese Glass Fibre Imports.

Date: 25-03-2011
Subject: India Imposes Anti-Dumping Tariffs Ranging From 7.46% To 40.91% On Chinese Glass Fibre Imports
After receiving an application from its domestic industry last year, India’s Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), part of the country’s Commerce Ministry (http://nic.commerce.in) on 4 March decided to impose anti-dumping duties ranging from 7.46% to 40.91% on glass fibre imported from China. The duties are to remain in place for five years, until 13 July 2015. India first initiated its investigation in January last year and in June 2010 adopted a preliminary ruling on the case.

In investigating Chinese glass fibre imports, DGAD found that their volume had risen from 5,800 t in 2005/2006 to 25,831 t in the period under scrutiny, from April 2008 to September 2009. As a result of the decision, a levy of 20.89% will now be imposed on imports from Taishan FibreGlass (Shandong / China; www.ctgf.com) and its subsidiaries, while the Jushi Group (Tongxiang, Zheijiang / China; www.jushi.com) and its affiliates are to be subjected to a duty of 18.67%. The smallest tariff, 7.46%, will apply to Chongqing Polycomp International Corporation (Chongqing / China; www.cpifiber.com). As for all remaining Chinese glass fibre exporters, the levies will amount to 40.91%.

India has already imposed duties on the imports of fabric, yarn and nylon tyre cord from China.
