India hardware export rises 107% |
India's export of electronic hardware registered a growth of 107 per cent during 2008-09 over the previous year, according to Kamal Vachani, Regional Director of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council for the Middle East.
In value terms, export of electronics hardware rose from $3.27 billion (Dh12bn) estimated in 2007-08 to $6.79bn in 2008-09.
The share of electronics hardware exports from India to Middle East has increased from 12.53 per cent to 14.81 per cent making Middle East the third top destination for India's electronics hardware export during the year 2008-09.
It is estimated that electronics goods export to Middle East Countries during 2008-09 is valued at $1,006 million up from $411m estimated in 2007-08, registering a growth of 145 per cent.
Export of software and related services to Middle East has also registered a growth of 161 per cent, Vachani said. Export of software and services increased from $569m estimated in 2007-08 to $1,486m in 2008-09. India's export of electronics hardware to the UAE increased from $227m in 2007-08 to $466m in 2008-09 registering a growth of 105 per cent.
Export of software and services registered a growth of 234 per cent during the year 2008-09 over the preceding year. In value terms, export of software and services increased from $195m in 2007-08 to $652m in the year 2008-09.
The overall growth in exports of electronics and software to Middle East during 2008-09 is estimated to be 154 per cent. It shows the rising interest among the Indian ICT exporting community in Middle East countries, he said.
