Kolkata (PTI): India looks forward to expanding its plastic market in China and USA after bilateral talks scheduled to be held at the six-day global expo on plastic, beginning in Delhi from February four.
PlastIndia Foundation President Arvind Mehta said here today that a large contingent of Indian and Chinese Plastic fraternity would attend the 'PlastIndia 2009', the seventh International Plastics Exhibition and Conference.
With the Indian plastic per capita consumption set to double by 2012 and the considerable scope for growth in the plastics industry envisaged, the continued process of trade expansion between India and China would be discussed at the India-China plastics industry summit, Mehta said.
Besides, PlastIndia Foundation and CII, along with China Plastics Processing Association and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, Hong Kong, will also organise "China India Plastics Industry Summit" at the event to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
When asked about the Indian plastic industry's stand in view of the recent ban on import of Chinese toys, Mehta said, "We are alert on such developments as also the alleged dumping of Chinese products in India."
He said the buoyant Indian plastic industry is looking to double the consumption in the next three years and with opportunities for growth pre-eminent in several sectors, this summit has assumed significance in terms of technology transfer between the two countries.
