MUMBAI, Jan 29 (Reuters) - India's total spices exports in December fell a marginal 5 percent in December led by a decline in exports of pepper, cuminseed and mint products, Spices Board Data showed on Friday.
Exports in December stood at 29,850 tonnes from 31,375 tonnes in the year-ago period.
Other spices, which also showed a decline in exports included large cardamom, fennel, vanilla and spice oils.
Pepper exports fell to 1,750 tonnes in December from 2,600 tonnes in the year-ago period as exports to main consuming countries such as the U.S., European Union and other major destinations declined.
Cumin exports fell to 2,500 tonnes in December 2009 from 3,500 tonnes in the same period a year ago.
Total exports in value terms, however, improved to 4.08 billion rupees from 4.05 billion rupees due to higher unit value realisation.
Exports of other spices such as small cardamom, garlic, nutmeg, mace and curry powder showed improvement.
Turmeric exports remained flat at 3,250 tonnes from 3,350 tonnes a year ago.
