MUMBAI, May 15 (Reuters) - Prices at the Indian Coffee Association's Thursday auctions saw selective interest from exporters and domestic buyers, traders said.
"Exporters continued to show active interest in robusta parchment coffee grades, whereas arabica plantation coffees found domestic buyers," said a trader from Bangalore, who did not wish to be identified.
Prices of arabica plantation PB and A grades climbed higher by 100 rupees per 50 kg, whereas B and C grades rose by as much as 600-700 rupees per 50 kg, compared to the last sale levels.
Arabica cherry grades, however, failed to attract any takers as prices were higher than what buyers were willing to pay, the traders said.
Arabica coffee arrivals start in November in India and continue till February, while robusta arrivals begin from mid-January and continue through April.
Robusta parchment grades received good support from the exporters and PB and AB grades rose 50-250 rupees per 50 kg.
Robusta cherry varieties, however, sold at last week's prices and found interest from domestic buyers, traders added.
The total quantity on offer at the auction was 333.38 tonnes, of which 57 tonnes were sold, an auctioneer said.
Following were the prices quoted for 50 kg bags in rupees.
