NEW DELHI, Nov 13 (Reuters) - India's steel imports between April and October fell 10.7 percent from a year earlier to 5.25 million tonnes, the Economic Times reported on Thursday.
Domestic steel firms have been seeking an import tax of 20 percent, which they say was needed to protect them against dumping of the alloy, but the paper said the data countered those claims.
Steel imports have fallen month-on-month since May with the exception of September, the paper said quoting data from the Joint Planning Committee of the Steel Ministry.
