Handicrafts exports may post 10% growth in 2010-11 |
Handicrafts exports have slightly recovered from the financial crisis by posting an increase of 6.5 per cent to Rs 8,718.94 crore in 2009-10 from last year's Rs 8,183 crore.
In dollar terms it was $1.83 billion during 2009-10, a 1.8 per cent growth from the previous fiscal, according to the provisional data released on Saturday by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).
With the Government taking many measures to check the decline, shipments started picking up in 2009-10. Exports in 2010-11 would grow by about 10 per cent over the previous year, said Mr Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH.
