The foreign trade policy to be unveiled on Aug. 27, 2009 will focus on labour intensive sectors and the ones which have potential to grow.
Addressing the national workshop on growth of agro export in New Delhi, commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma said that despite the constraints posed by the global economic meltdown, the government will try to do whatever possible for the industry and the exporters who have faced the maximum brunt of global recession.
He said that the Indian entrepreneurs have to access the markets where the demand has not declined. On the revival of agriculture in the wake of drought in as many as 177 districts of the country, he said the country`s agro sector has a great potential but a focused approach and institutionalized framework is needed for the targeted growth rate.
