Mumbai, July 10: The country’s foreign exchange reserves jumped to $278.27 billion for the week ended July 2, up around $1 billion, from $276.98 billion in the previous week, backed by a healthy growth in the foreign currency assets and gold reserves. Foreign currency assets increased to $252.12 billion, up $746 million, from the preceding week’s $251.38 billion, the Reserve Bank of India said.
Essar deal
New Delhi, July 10: Essar Energy Plc today said its indirect subsidiary Essar Power Jharkhand Ltd had signed an agreement with the Bihar State Electricity Board to supply 450MW of electricity to the latter for 25 years. The power purchase agreement is for 450MW of contracted capacity from the 1,200MW coal-fired Tori I power project.
