Kochi, Sept. 25 Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) is stepping up its trading activities by importing urea and muriate of potash (MOP).
According to an official release, a ship carrying 30,000 tonnes of urea from Qatar and another ship with 25,000 tonnes of potash from Ukraine, are expected in the first week of October. While the ship carrying the urea would anchor at Kochi port, the ship with potash would anchor at Tuticorin port. A major quantity of both the urea and potash would be marketed in Kerala.
With these shipments, FACT would cross the one-lakh-tonne mark in the trading of imported fertilisers in the current financial year, which will be an all-time high. FACT is planning to import a few more shipments of urea and potash in the coming months, a release said.
