MUMBAI, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Sugar maker EID Parry (EIDP.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) plans to buy about 50,000 tonnes of raw sugar for the crop year 2009/10 but will wait for prices to ease, its chief told Reuters.
"We may import some 50,000 tonnes but not at today's levels," K. Raghunandan, managing director said over the telephone.
"We'll wait for the dust to settle down a bit. I think the market has factored in a large amount of purchases from India. So prices should correct now. As October passes by a lot of rationality will emerge," he said.
The firm had imported 50,000 tonnes raws for the year-ending September 2009, he said.
