Dumping duty on phenol imports |
New Delhi, April 26 The Finance Ministry has imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on phenol imports from Thailand and Japan. Phenol, also known as carbolic acid, is a basic organic chemical used in the manufacture of phenol formaldehyde resins, laminates, plywood, particle boards, Bisphenol-A, alkyl phenols and pharmaceuticals. The provisional anti-dumping duty would be effective till October 18. In the case of phenol produced and exported by PTT Phenol Company Limited, Thailand, the provisional anti-dumping duty has been pegged at $150.55 a tonne. For phenol exported by Mitsui Chemical of Japan through Singapore to India, the provisional anti-dumping duty has been pegged at $ 151.96 a tonne
