Chilli Retains Top Spot in India's Spices Exports |
India s spices exports surged during April August period by 19% as compared to last year with as usual chilli scored top among other spices in exports. According to latest data released by the Spices Board of India chilli exports in the first five months of the current fiscal stood at 1 02 750 tonnes up 35 per cent over the same period last fiscal. Value wise also it has outpaced others to garner foreign exchange worth Rs. 631.74 crore (Rs 467.6 crore).
Following chilli garlic and ginger exports moved up due to strong demand. Exports of ginger have also appreciated 163 per cent to 4 150 tonnes from 1 575 tonnes. Garlic exports have jumped by 327 per cent to 13 250 tonnes during April August this fiscal over 3 100 tonnes in the same period last fiscal. Total exports during the first five months of the current fiscal stood at 2 39 850 tonnes compared with 2 11 950 tonnes in the year ago period.
