Cement exports dip 29 pc at 2.27 mn tn in 2009-10 |
NEW DELHI: India's cement export declined by 29 per cent to 2.27 million tonnes in 2009-10 fiscal, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
The country had exported 3.2 million tonnes of cement in the previous fiscal, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a written reply.
Cement production increased 11 per cent at 201 million tonnes in 2009-10 fiscal against 181.61 million tonnes in the previous financial year.
The demand grew by 10 per cent to 196.12 million tonnes from 177.98 million tonnes in the review period.
The installed production capacity as on June 30 stood at 262.91 million tonnes, he said.
As per the report of the working group on cement industry for the 11th five year plan 2007-12, the projected demand of cement for 2010-11 is Rs 231.66 million tonnes, which would rise to 290 million tonnes by 2012-13.
