The Bharat Forge multi-product SEZ at Chakan is all set to embark on its second phase of land acquisition that will see 1,900 hectares being acquired from seven villages. The first phase of rehabilitation and settlement package was completed last year and is at present being showcased by officers as the ideal package.
The SEZ, a 76:24 joint venture between Bharat Forge and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), will span over 7,192 hectares in 17 villages. The third and the last phase will see 3,900 hectares being acquired in six villages.
With the first phase of acquisition and rehabilitation getting over, the second one will be rolled out after district collector Chandrakant Dalvi holds talks with the farmers once the Assembly elections get over. “We have already finished issuing 32/1- the final notification - and now the next step is to discuss the value of land with the farmers,” said deputy collector Gajanan Patil.
