Jewellery exports from India climbed 9.4% in the seven months ended Oct. 31 as sales of polished diamonds rose. Overseas sales rose to US$12.95bn from US$11.83bn in the same period a year ago, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council said.
Exports of cut and polished diamonds jumped 14% to US$9.3bn, the council said. Gold jewellery sales declined 8.4% to US$2.83bn, the council said. Shipments of colored gems climbed 19% to US$172mn.
India exported gems and jewellery worth US$21bn in the year ended March 31.
