NEW DELHI: India is contemplating imposition of anti-dumping duty on imports of viscose filament yarn to guard the domestic market from being flooded by cheap Chinese raw material used in the textile sector.
The provisional anti-dumping duty would be equal to the difference between the benchmark price set by the Directorate General of Anti Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) and the landed price of the product imported from China, according to an official notification here. The DGAD has recommended the anti-dumping duty to the Commerce Ministry to check any kind of longer term damage to the domestic industry. The domestic industry has suffered material injury and this injury has been caused by the dumped imports from China, the DGAS has stated in its notification.
