Anand Sharma to Address India-Kenya Joint Trade Committee Meeting in Nairobi |
Shri Anand Sharma, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, will be addressing the 6th India-Kenya Joint Trade Committee (JTC) Meeting in Nairobi tomorrow. Both the sides are expected to sign the Agreed Minutes after the deliberations.
During his visit, Shri Sharma is scheduled to meet Mr. Mwai Kibaki, President of Kenya and Mr. Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya. He will hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister of Kenya Mr. Moses Wetang’ula and the Trade Minister of Kenya Mr. Chirau Ali Mwakwere.
Shri Sharma will be inaugurating the ‘Namaskar Africa’ and “India-East Africa Business Forum” on October 14, 2010 at Nairobi, which is being organized by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and COMESA Business Council.
India’s total trade with Kenya stood at US $ 1.530 billion (exports – US $ 1.452 billion and imports – US $ 78.93 million). Indian companies have invested US $ 134.31 million in Kenya during April 2005 to October 2009. Comparatively, FDI inflows from Kenya to India was US $ 15.85 million during April 2000 to July 2010.
