The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced two new surveys, the 'Inflation Expectations Survey of Households' and the 'Consumer Confidence Survey,' aimed at providing crucial insights for the upcoming bi-monthly monetary policy. Scheduled for June 5-7, 2024, the next policy review will benefit from these surveys.The 'Inflation Expectations Survey of Households' will gather subjective evaluations on price movements and inflation based on individual consumption patterns. This survey spans 19 cities, including Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, as outlined by the RBI in a recent release.This survey will gather qualitative responses from households regarding price changes, including general prices and specific product groups, over the next three months and one year. Additionally, it will collect quantitative data on current, three-month ahead, and one-year ahead inflation rates.
