MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA AND
THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM
ON THE RECOGNITION OF
VIETNAM’S FULL MARKET ECONOMY STATUS
The Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the
Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (hereinafter referred to as India and Viet
Nam respectively):
Acknowledging the long-term stability and rapid growth of the bilateral
economic and trade cooperation between India and Viet Nam;
Desiring to strengthen the long-term friendly and cooperative relationship
and to develop a healthy and stable partnership;
Have arrived at the following understandings:
Article 1
India and Viet Nam recognize each other as equal WTO trading partners
in economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Article 2
India recognizes Viet Nam as a full market economy and shall not apply,
from the date of signing of this Memorandum of Understanding,
paragraph 255 of the Report of the Working Party on the Accession of
Viet Nam to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in relation to trade
between India and Viet Nam.
Done in duplicate at Cha-Am, Hua Hin, Thailand on the twenty-fifth day of
October two thousand and nine, in the English language. All texts being
equally authentic.
