S.O. (E) In exercise of powers conferred by Section 5, read alongwith Section
3(2) of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, also read
alongwith paragraph 2.1 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Central Government
hereby extends the validity of prohibition on import of milk and milk products
under Chapter 4 of ITC(HS) from China vide
Notification No.46/(RE
2008)/2004-2009 dated 24th September, 2008 by another six months from 24.12.2008 upto 23.6.2009
2. The Central Government has also decided that the following import licensing
note shall be added at the end of Chapters 17, 18, 19 and 21 of Schedule I of
ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items 2004-09 as follows:
“Import Licensing Note: The import of chocolates and chocolate products and
candies/ confectionary/ food preparations with milk or milk solids as an
ingredient shall be prohibited from China for six months with immediate effect
and until further orders.
The transitional arrangements under para 1.5 of the Foreign trade Policy 2004-09
will not be allowed in the case of import of above products from China for this
period.”
This issues in public interest.
